We have studied all aspects of biology and those of us who are God loving understand the awesomeness of HIS putting all things in place and balance. The Scientific community is only recently studying the interaction of soil biology, what a treasure trove. The organic and sustainable diehards understand the benefits of the ‘Soil Food Web’ more than ‘conventional’ growers. Personally for me life has cycles and I am now back to where I started in life except with a scientific approach BUT trying to understand the beauty of GOD’s brilliance. My cycle is I grew up from the age of 4 – 11 among the native Indians in the Rupununni in Guyana and saw and farmed as they did, slash and burn and after 3 years abandoned the field because the soil nutrients were depleted. In elementary school my principal (Constance London, my mom) and high school my principal (Howard London, my dad) (( yes you can feel sorry for me)) had the students building compost pits to use in our garden beds (was called 4H). However we did not practice composting on the farm and so after 3 years you had to slash and burn to get virgin soil. We never used commercial fertilizers everything was organic in the raw. Upon embarking studies in the USA I studied agriculture and yes it was fertilizers, chemicals hard core use. You can see some of my accomplishments at present at Fitotec.com or bosfms.com. To complete my cycle, my wife and I have a beyond organic farm in Uganda. Everything is treated with microbes before planting and pesticides if needed are derived from the neem seed and nutrients from the leaves.
With that introduction I have to say how I am now completing my cycle. GOD has a great sense of humor. I burned up a grower’s field of 200 acres of strawberries ($25-30,000 / ac) by using a special fertilizer but there was 5 acres that did not burn. The 5 acres was not fumigated so natural microbes were present. This same 5 acres were however treated with Tainio Biologicals Inc. (TTT) microbes and it was my first attempt at a viable alternative to methyl bromide use. After 3 weeks of seeing the 200 acres die I followed the advice of a USDA scientist Dr. Cayolee Bull and applied TTT microbes through the drip system of the 200 acres. Within 3 days the ‘dead’ plants were pushing green leaves, to me that was a miracle and I became a ‘born again Aggie’. This miracle of using microbiology made me start my present journey to understand the miracle of what Bruce Tainio (RIP) had been preaching to the choir for over 30 years. However it was not an easy journey. I got angry at what I learned in college, (I even was a graduate TA in Soils), and it took me 7 years to unlearn what I learned, recollect my pass, and learn the new concepts and now integrating the concepts and practices. I see at present fellow agronomist when I explain about bio remediation, bio transmutation and quantum physics they think I am crazy or otherwise. However the present day issues we are facing in the Great State of California are solvable with the simple yet complex micro biology, but we have a long way to go to work delicately with the conventional inputs to regain a balance in the soil and waterways.
